How to Read and Understand Your
Coronavirus Surface Testing Results...
Your report is very easy to read and understand. You will have a swab number attached to each kit you purchase. Remember each kit contains one swab and will test up to 6 high touch areas. Each swab tested will read either positive or negative for coronavirus (COVID-19). All HouseCheck Environmental Services coronavirus surface test swabs are processed by Hayes Microbial Consulting, a leader in laboratory testing. See the sample image below:
Coronavirus Surface Test
Our coronavirus surface test uses a molecular testing method (RT-PCR) for the detection of the genetic materials (RNA) of both viable (infectious) and dead (inactivated, non-infectious) viruses. This testing method is only effective for the testing of surfaces; it does NOT test for human infection or exposure.
The results are expressed as either "positive" or "negative" for Coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, and it is important to note that these results are a snapshot in time for the detection of the genetic material.
What do my results mean?
Negative results indicate that at the time testing was conducted, genetic material for coronavirus was not present. With regular cleaning and disinfecting, you can have peace of mind for you and your employees and customers.
If your business has tested positive for coronavirus, DON’T PANIC! The fact that coronavirus was found in your facility doesn’t automatically mean you, your employees or customers will become seriously ill. Positive results indicate that at the time testing was conducted, genetic material for coronavirus was present. Here are our recommendations to move forward:
Immediately close the facility and disallow access to anyone not wearing full protective gear.
Advise all employees, contractors, and others who have recently been in that facility that tests have detected the presence of coronavirus.
If possible, alert any customers who may have been in the building recently that the facility has tested positive for coronavirus.
Strongly recommend that anyone who may have been in the effected facility make arrangements to be tested for COVID-19 as quickly as possible.
Advise anyone who may have been effected to stay home and avoid interaction with others until their test results become available.
Arrange to give your facility a thorough remediation using CDC-approved products and protocols for mitigating coronavirus. This will involve separate steps for cleaning and disinfecting various surfaces in your facility.
Once the facility has been remediated, establish and communicate a procedure and timeline for repatriating employees to the facility.
